Consultation with residents over the last 6 years has confirmed the need for and a high level of interest in the provision of a new, centrally located community venue in Llangarron. It has also indicated majority support amongst residents for the historically important and under utilised Grade l listed Victorian North Aisle of St Deinst Church to be developed for community purposes. Llangarron already has a Village Hall which dates back to the 1920’s. Although this has been upgraded over the years, it's age, condition and restricted parking means that it is only suitable for a limited range of activities involving limited numbers for as long as it remains structurally sound. It is difficult to envisage that this will remain true for more than another 10-15 years maximum. As such, there is a pressing need to consider options for the future. Versus this existing Village Hall, we visualise the new venue as a 21st century and character one with all the necessary modern conveniences. As such, it will initially complement and, in due course, replace the Village Hall and generally extend and enhance community life in the area. As the North Aisle is viewed by some as part of the Church and has religious associations, the consultation indicated a need to make it accessible and welcoming to everyone, irrespective of religious beliefs and age.
